Support for R&D collaboration projects between the Armed Forces and industry

GrantsDefenceFunding

About the programme

Long-standing Ministry of Defence grant scheme (defence budget chapter 1760, post 45) that co-funds R&D collaboration projects between Norwegian industry and the Armed Forces. It aims to develop industry competence to support the Armed Forces' materiel needs and strengthen Norwegian participation in international materiel cooperation. As of May 2026 new allocations are temporarily suspended while the scheme is evaluated and formalised in regulation during 2026; the Ministry has announced that information on new calls and deadlines will come in autumn 2026.

Why it matters

This is the Norwegian MoD's direct R&D grant channel for companies, distinct from FFI's arenas and the production-capacity subsidies. Companies should prepare for the relaunched, regulation-based call expected in autumn 2026.
