OSA is a Polish defence science-industrial centre established on 19 March 2026 by the Ministry of National Defence, integrating military research institutes (led by the Air Force Institute of Technology/ITWL), IDEAS NCBR, and Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa. Its core mission is to dramatically shorten the path from technology concept and demonstrator to operationally ready solution by providing systematic testing and validation of autonomous and unmanned systems under near-real conditions. The centre also acts as a contact point for startups, researchers, and industrial partners developing autonomous technologies for the Polish Armed Forces.
OSA is the primary national gateway for defence-tech companies and SMEs seeking to get autonomous/drone systems tested, validated, and fast-tracked into Polish Armed Forces procurement — with MON planning approximately PLN 25 billion in autonomous and anti-drone system contracts in 2026 alone. The centre explicitly targets removal of administrative barriers and reduction of technological risk, making it a critical accelerator for any firm with UAS, AI, or autonomous ground/air vehicle capabilities.
