About the programme
IDA (Innovative Dual-Use Tech Accelerator) is a free Polish national accelerator programme run by Polski Fundusz Rozwoju (PFR) in close cooperation with the Ministry of National Defence and the Polish Armaments Group. It guides startups, SMEs, spin-offs, and research teams through a structured pathway comprising three tracks — IDA Discovery (hackathons for pre-seed/seed innovators), IDA Bootcamp (intensive development in direct collaboration with the military, defence industry, and VC funds), and IDA Verify (operational-condition testing) — all focused on dual-use technologies with both civilian and defence applications. Over three editions, more than 70 teams have collectively held over 1,000 meetings with the military, industry, and investors.
Why it matters
IDA is Poland's primary structured gateway for civilian tech companies and startups to gain direct access to military end-users, defence industrial partners, and VC investors active in the dual-use space — without upfront cost. Participation has demonstrably led to VC investment term-sheets, operational test agreements, and procurement interest, making it a high-leverage entry point into the Polish and broader NATO defence ecosystem. It is also explicitly positioned as Poland's national complement to the NATO DIANA accelerator, offering a domestic on-ramp for companies targeting transatlantic defence innovation programmes.
