EUR 350m total fund-of-funds (PLN 1.5bn); deploying via 10–15 VC funds targeting 150–200 startups and scaleups

About the programme

Future Tech Poland is a PLN 1.5bn (approx. EUR 350m) fund-of-funds established jointly by Poland's state development bank BGK and the European Investment Fund (EIF) as the central pillar of the broader Innovate Poland programme. It invests public capital into 10–15 selected venture capital funds, which in turn back high-growth tech startups and scaleups across development stages. Priority sectors include artificial intelligence, robotics and automation, space, defence, dual-use technologies, medtech, and biotechnology. The initial investment period is approximately three years, with a total programme horizon of 15 years.

Why it matters

For defence-tech and dual-use SMEs and startups, FTP is Poland's most significant state-backed VC mobilisation vehicle to date, explicitly listing defence and dual-use technologies among its top investment priorities. The first FTP commitments already targeted VC funds specialising in defence, cyber, and space, signalling strong policy intent to channel capital into these sectors. Companies raising VC rounds from FTP-backed funds benefit indirectly from BGK and EIF quality-stamp due diligence, which can also de-risk further private co-investment.
